Hi,
Myself and a mate are visiting Istanbul in September and after 3 full days there, we were going to go to either Izmir or Antalya. We have 8 full days in Turkey and arrive on a Friday evening. We need to be back in Istanbul on the Saturday of the following week for the flight back to Dublin so our time visiting either of the two would be from the Tuesday of week 2 to the Saturday.
Which do ye recommend? Both look nice, especially Antalya.
And what are Turkish Airlines like for internal flights(we’re taking them from Dublin to Istanbul and I’ve heard mixed reviews of them. Heard one comment that their domestic flights are better than international ones)?
If going to Izmir, will probably take train / ferry but would probably fly if going to Antalya. How long is that flight?
Thanks in advance for your help!

izmir is a better city to visit. i mean the historical monuments and it is a nicer city. a different city, must be seen. antalya is nice too, but more with its beaches. it has plenty of historical monuments too. it depends on your purpose to visit. izmir has beaches and holiday towns too. but you’ll visit one, so i say izmir
flight to antalya takes 1 hr, or slightly more.to izmir 1 hr-1.15 too. ferry should save time, (not knowing exactly) i guess train ride would take 7-8 hrs
about thy flights, i use its domestic line frequently (it’s the best), i went abroad with lufthansa rather than thy. that choice was according to the price lol i cant speak with the experience of 2 flights with thy 4 years ago. i remember its meals was good
:D thy’s food service is the best that’s all i know
oğuz, since thy has a 25% student discount,i never use other airlines lol
xaxaxaxa, Antalya has an Arabic name
xaxaxa, Turks are the same than Arabs
))))
i vote for izmir too. but antalya is more popular among tourist that is for sure.
i don’t know about thy domestic flights since it is far more expensive than other domestic airlines like pegasus. if you are looking for comfort, use thy. but if you ask me, one can stay without eating anything and sit in slightly smaller couchs for a one hour flight. it’s your choice anyway.
and, do you know that going to izmir by ferry/train takes eight hours? it is a fun trip but flying to izmir should be an option i think.
please ignore troll iph(turban girl) she is aka armenian troll.
Constantinople rules !
Hello,
Both of them are very fascinating destinations. I am living in Izmir and travel often to Antalya. In the begining of the September I prefer Izmir and in the end of September prefer Antalya in terms of climate conditions.

The best internal Turkish airline would be Atlasjet, it is the Turkish equivilant for Easyjet to be honest and I’ve flown with them many times, they have delicious inflight sandwiches
. The flight to Antalya would be about 1 hour and a half, to 2 hours and the flight to Izmir will be about an hour.
To summarise everyone elses long answers, Izmir is nice and hot but there is a really nice cool breeze in someparts so you can still get that tan but not feel like you are burning! And Antalya can be too hot to bear, the the temperatures rising to something like 60 degrees you feel like your sizzling with literally no breeze in some parts! When I went to Izmir, we took the ferry and drove down to Izmir, that took 6 hours! But I think I prefered it to Antalya to be honest.
Thanks,
Matt.
